"Navy Honors Ernest Borgnine"

 

Ernest Borgnine, Academy Award-winning actor and Navy veteran, passed away on July 8, 2012, leaving his legacy of service and laughter behind. The U.S. Navy paid tribute to Mr. Borgnine at his funeral service with a full-honors ceremony for his years of service and his continued support of naval institutions.

"Rhino Snot"

 

Marines assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 374 made their way up a narrow mountain road to create a remote helicopter landing zone using a barrelful of sticky glop called RhinoSnot -- a dust control compound that is as effective as it is smelly. (This story won the Thomas Jefferson Award in 2013 for best audio feature, as well as a 1st-place Navy Media Award.)
